CONFIRMATION:

FOR THOSE WHO RECEIVED BAPTISM AND HOLY COMMUNION IN CHILDHOOD

The program is outlined below.  If you are at least 13 years old, or in the 8th grade, and would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, call the parish office at 270-684-4745.

The first year of Confirmation preparation has six components:

› Orientation Session – the gathering of candidates, parents and sponsors to allow an opportunity to ask questions.

› God’s Loving Call – an overnight retreat early in the program. This retreat is held at Gasper River Retreat Center and is designed to build community among the Confirmandi.

› Chosen – Sessions 1-14 of a twenty-four week program that prepares students both intellectually and spiritually to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The small group experience captures the heart of the youth at a critical time of their lives.

› Dead Theologians Society (DTS) – an engaging encounter of the lives of the saints for observing positive role models. Components of the DTS experience include stories of the lives of saints, Eucharistic Adoration, the Rosary, the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and shared heart prayers in small group settings.

› Encounter: Experiencing God in the Everyday. This program is a teen Bible study that challenges their faith and gives an understanding of scripture.

› Service Projects – held once every six weeks to build community while serving the parish and community.

OUR YOUTH ARE CALLED TO HOLINESS, BUT THEY NEED HEROES TO INSPIRE THEM.

The second year of the Confirmation program has five components, which include:

› Starts with “Life of a Disciple” Sessions 15 to 24 of Chosen,

› Offers a second year retreat, “To the Heart,” prior to Confirmation in the fall,

› The Rite of Confirmation in late October,

› Continuation of The Dead Theologians Society program and service projects,

› Theology of the Body for Teens

› Service Projects-held once every six weeks to build community while serving the parish and community.
